ABOUT ME

The man behind it all

My name is Sighvatur but more commonly known as Hvati (kua-t). Hvati is actually an old Icelandic name but was used for dogs mostly, my sources tell me. I am very proud of my name (both of them) since they are not so common in Iceland, we are just about 50 holding that name.
I moved to denmark in the fall of 2007 with my fioncé to educate me further. I went to NoMA which is a Multimedia Designer program. I graduated from NoMA in June 2009.
Part of my education was to have an internship. I was lucky to get a placement at Mediaposse in San Francisco. I spent most of my time there working on motion graphics and broadcast media. In September 2009 my employer from Mediaposse contacted me to have motion graphic classes at NoMA. He has been coming to NoMA for the past years to have a video workshop.

Graphic design

My interest in graphic design started soon after I went to high-school. I had already been involved in the Icelandic graffiti sceen and I believe that is the main factor for my interest in graphic design. Allthough I haven’t been very active as an graffiti-artist for the past 2 or 3 years my mind still flows around letters, forms and colors. I still skecth alot and paint walls from time to time.

I love doing illustrations and have spent most of my time in Adobe Illustrator due to its vectors. Like I mentioned before, my interst in letters and forms is endless and throwing them around in different areas, platforms and spaces keeps me happy.

Architecture

The interest for architecture has grown significantly for the past years. When I graduated from high-school I bought my self a shelf-full of books about architecture so I could pursue my latest design interest.
What I love about architecture is the fact that you can have a lot of fun with space (I guess this is a chain reaction from my interest in graphic design areas). When this is written, is yours truly applying for the School of Architecture in Aarhus Denmark. I would love to expand my skills and knowledge further on and become an architect - aim for your dreams, nothing less!

Me, myself and music

Music has and always will be a huge part of my life. Whether I’m playing my drums og listening to music, it’s there. I often get into some special moods when listening to music and that often affects my artwork. It often has some good ideas.
Which genre I favorite is a question I can't answer. I listen to almost anything. May it be opera, hero-metal, hiphop/rap, blues, jazz, what ever, but sometimes I can't stand some genres and that simply depends on what mood I'm in or if it generally just does not appeal to me.
Hopefully I will be able to join or establish a group of musicians to play music regularly. I love the feeling of beeing able to loose myself on stage!
